In its 2024 review the US Department of Labor placed Brazil in the "Moderate Advancement" category — the second of four, meaning meaningful effort in some areas but not all. Read what that means before reading it as a verdict: it rates how hard a government worked in one year, not how many children are working. It comes in four steps rather than as a number, which is why we show it with a tilde — four tiers, four evenly spaced values, no false precision.
The same department keeps a second, separate list, of goods rather than governments, which names the products it has reason to believe are made with child or forced labour. It is public and searchable by country and product, and it is the more useful document if you want to know what your own shopping touches.
